This package includes the warm up, the guided notes, the practice and the homework that I use when teaching 6th grade students about the opposite of a number on day 1. These items are all aligned to the common core state standards. The notes are cornel style to provide a margin for thoughts and questions. The homework is a mix of material taught this day and material students should have seen prior to this day.

This package includes materials to teach CCSS 6.NS.B2. on dividing whole numbers using the standard algorithm. This will include the Guided notes you run through with the class (cornel style, to provide think space on the margin), the independent handout that students work on after the guided notes. It also includes the exit ticket that should be administered after the days lesson and the HW that provides conceptual review on division of whole numbers but also spiraled review material from the p

Practice worksheet given to 6th graders after they complete the number line notes. Helps students place numbers on number lines, helps students identify a location as positive and negative. It allows students to correctly label an empty number line.

I give my incoming 6th graders this test the 2nd day of school to measure their skills and give me a better idea of where most of my kids are.

Notes given in class to introduce students to number lines. Incorporating the opposite of numbers to the difference between a vertical and horizontal number lines.
