About the store
While in college, I interned in a 2nd grade classroom for a semester and then a 3/4 combo classroom for a semester. I student taught in a 7th grade science class for a full year. My first year teaching was in Tucson. I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade science in a k-8 school and loved it! After my first year, I moved back to Phoenix and found a math-science combo in a 7th grade classroom. I was asked to get certified to teach math, which I did and found an instant love for being a math teacher! My following 5 years were spent in a 6th grade classroom and I found a passion to not only teach math but teach kids to love math. In total, I have spent 7 years teaching in addition to 2 years of student teaching experience.

Teaching style

Fun but structured. I believe that every individual can find a passion for learning and a love for mathematics if given the safe space required to do so. It's important to learn and master the fundamentals but also have a knack for thinking critically and problem solving. I had a mentor once tell me "if you always staple the paper for the kids, they will never learn how to staple". This stuck with me. It's not about doing things for people, it's about showing them how it can be done and then giving them the opportunity to learn on their own.
