I taught 4th and 5th grade in Virginia when I first began my career. Our family homeschooled for 5 years (grades K-5 with two children).
I now teach 3rd grade at a fun and fabulous Christian school and I'm loving it!
Give your students this simple web to spark ideas for writing. Each category includes prompting questions to help those students who do not know what to do with just the individual words (who, what, where, when, why, how). Happy writing!
Give your class a fun way to practice using apostrophes with very little prep. Print the cards on colorful cardstock. Cut the top strip off as a full banner. Cut the last three rows apart to create cards. Then add this activity to your collection of center activities.
I recommend reading The Greedy Apostrophe: A Cautionary Tale by Jan Carr before using this activity.
Place this page into a sheet protector and boom, instant center activity. Partners can work together to list nouns and create sentences. Language, writing, getting along with peers, there are so many reasons to use this product.
With this fun set of alien-themed mini-stories, your students practice avoiding the math danger of adding up numbers for no reason. You can even tell them it will be super easy because they don't even have to solve the problems. They are simply identifying which kind of problem each story is.
Kids Learning Tube produced a fabulous video all about photosynthesis. The lyrics are sung really fast, but I have a solution for you. Filling in the missing words while you watch the video helps students catch concepts they might otherwise miss. Enjoy!
Extend learning with this fun and creative list of activities. Students are encouraged to cite evidence from the book and use their own imaginations. Have fun creating!
Get your students thinking before reading this selection. They will predict facts and then discover the details along the way. This is a great way to give students structure as they read.
