Experience

I’m a middle school principal with 20 years in education and counting — including roles as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, new teacher mentor, and district numeracy lead. My passion is helping teachers feel confident in their math instruction, especially when tackling big concepts like fractions. Every resource I create draws on real classroom experience, extensive teacher collaboration, and a deep understanding of what makes learning stick.

Teaching style

I believe great math teaching is grounded in establishing conceptual understanding, not rushing to memorization of abstract procedures that students don't understand and soon forget. I follow a concrete-representative-abstract (CRA) approach that prioritizes hands-on learning, visual modeling, and step-by-step transitions to abstract thinking and procedures. I design resources that get straight to the point, so teachers can spend less time planning and more time teaching.

Awards & shining teacher moments

The best sound in a math classroom is, "Ohhhhh!" My proudest moments come from hearing students and teachers alike say, “That finally made sense!” I’ve led district-wide math PD, coached new and experienced teachers alike, and helped schools and school districts boost student achievement through research-based, proven strategies.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, along with specialist training in mathematics instruction and instructional leadership. I’ve worked in both urban and rural schools, across grade levels and school districts — all of which fuels the practical, teacher-friendly design of the materials you'll find here.
