Quick activity to use along with the story Green Eggs and Ham. This will help students to identify words that rhyme in the story. This can be used independently at a literacy center, or as a class game. Print these out on green paper, laminate, and cut them on the lines.

A mini book about various types of lines, with patterned sentences to practice reading and sight work recognition. Great for Kindergarten and Grade 1 art to teach different types of lines and what they are called.

An activity I use at center time to make the students more familiar with the hundreds chart. It teaches them the relationship between the rows and columns. Once the students are familiar, it is very effective as an independent center.

This is a great page to cut and paste the different phases of a frog's journey from egg to frog. We learned about the eggs, tadpoles, and froglets from the book "From Tadpole to Frog" by Wendy Pfeffer. My ESL Kindy students really struggle with the difference between is, can, and has as helpers. An interactive word wall that can be embedded directly into your Google Site. There are some words on it already, but it is completely editable, and you can add your own words as you go.

A great template for a class book. The students can choose what egg laying creature they would like to draw. "It started as an egg. It hatched and grew. It became a _______________."

We used this as a math center to practice our addition. We mixed 2 types of seeds; beans and pumpkin, in a bowl. I had the children use a small spoon to scoop the seeds and then sort them into the two circles. They had to write the addition sentence, and then count how many they had scooped. Very easy center they can do on their own and will help them practice counting, sorting, writing numbers, and obviously adding.

Great for patterning centers! I have the students recreate the pattern on a strip of paper using coloured stickers! Great to test their understanding and proficiency at patterning.

Sorting spiders into their webs based on their word family. The words can be cut, laminated, and velcroed onto the spiders to be sorted. It can be used as a learning center or with the worksheet. (Spider Word Families WS)

Start to build paragraphs by writing about your favourite body part and what it can do, a description (is) and something that it has. This comes with questions to prompt sentences (rough copy) and a good copy page. We took photos of ourselves showing what our bodies can do and pasted them into the frame.

Accompanying worksheet for the Spider Word Families Activity. The students write the word family words in the rectangular spaces, and can come up with their own "silly" word to fill in the center space.

When learning to read, using word families makes things much easier. Here is a simple page for assessing students' and their knowledge of the 'at' family. Students can use this page to practice stretching sounds out and and then blending them together to make words. Just put your finger on each dot and say the corresponding sound. Do it faster each time until they hear the correct word.

Cross-curricular math activity (my KG students do this independently at center time). They can use various body parts to measure things around the classroom.

A quick introduction to practical uses of addition during circle time. I usually count the boys, then girls, then add them together. We count the children in the class to see how many we have total that day. Mixing up the order of the cards on the wall, you can also solve subtraction problems, by counting the number of students, number of boys (or girls) and then solving.
