This passage is an introduction to inherited traits in plants and animals. It is accompanied by comprehension questions (multiple choice), one cause and effect (fill in the blank), a data chart to analyze, and a challenge involving collecting data (fill in the blanks) and drawing a conclusion (extended response)
Use this activity during a unit on Colonial America. Students will match the job description to the title of the job. To further the activity, students can write a journal entry as a master craftsmen or research one of the jobs that sound most interesting to them.
Use this anchor chart to display the Order of Operations and the pairing of inverse operations (MD) and (AS). Print one for the classroom, a set for a small group, or for the whole class!
Students will design their own garden and calculate the area, perimeter, and cost of growing each plant they choose. Students can pick which produce they want to grow and draw out a "plot" onto graph paper. Then, students can calculate the perimeter and area of each plot. Every plant has is assigned a price per square foot for students to calculate the cost. Then, decorate, cut, and paste onto a poster! To make this project more advanced, give students a budget that they must work within!
Use this anchor chart when teching word problems involving area and perimeter. It lists key words that determine if students should solve for area and perimeter. It shows 2-D visuals for perimeter and 3-D images to represent area.
This culture project requires students to find out about their heritage and family background. Students have a choice of writing their responses in essay form, creating a poster, or a "culture box" full of artifacts that are important to their family/ culture.
Welcome back to school! This generic project guideline gives students the choice to make a presentation, poster, or "treasure box" to introduce themselves to their new class and teacher. Specifications are included. Criteria for grading are included and are non-grade specific. Easy to follow and assign at the beginning of the school year. Fill in your own due date!

Use this self-reflection to help students reflect on their academic year in your classroom. Students will rate their own performance in each major subject as well as reflect on favorite units and classroom activities!
This project guide gives students a selection of eco-friendly additions to add to a community. Students will choose which eco-friendly elements are important to their town and draw them out onto graph paper. Then, they should calculate the area and perimeter of each addition to their town. Cut and paste work onto a poster paper, and create a fun title for this new eco-friendly town, just in time for Earth Day!
After learning area and perimeter, students have the opportunity to design a doll house. They will decide what 5 rooms to include, determine the length and width of the room, calculate the area and perimeter, and then design the doll house on a printed outline! Graph paper not included. A wonderful extension would be providing an opportunity for students to construct their doll house in 3-D!
Print each student a passport and decorate as desired. Have student rotate between 7 centers that focus on each of the 7 continents. Passages will be provided in another resource- or create your own! (our use textbook passages, etc) students record what they learn in their passport. Editable because it's a word doc.
Use this quiz for students who receive modified assessments. Word bank provided. Focuses on the settlemnt of New York during the Age of Exploration / Colonial America.
Use this worksheet as an activity to reinforce the conversion of fractions to decimals. Students will convert the cost of items in a classroom "store".
Have students create a diorama of a set design as an extra credit assignment. I used this at the end of our drama reading/ writing unit.
