I have put this together based on the NZ numeracy stages and it starts at Stage 4 and goes to Stage 7. This download includes 20 progressive levels, answer sheet and display boards for your classroom, just laminate and keep for years to come!
This is a great unit for students aged anywhere between 8 and 12 which gets them researching and thinking about what an invention is and gives them a chance to think of their own 'problem' to then try and invent a solution to this problem. It looks at first vs. third world problems and there are links to some awesome videos about kid inventors and other relevant topics.
This can be used as a regular basic facts challenge for students. The challenge is to improve and work their way up the ladder. It starts with Stage 4 level (around 6-7 years of age) and goes up to Stage 8 Level (around 12-13 years of age). I have included a photo to show how it can be displayed in the classroom with students making their way up the ladder. I give students 5 minutes to complete the level and they need to gain 99 or 100 to pass.
