This activity prompts students to unpack and identify literary analysis prompts by identifying what literary element is being compared/contrasted and what that element's definition is. THe code word helps to provide correct responses. Can be printed on card stock and laminated to create a hands on activity.
Learning about the Code of Chivalry and Relating to it Today!
Have students write down what kind of CODE they live by or what they’d like the world to live by. Afterwards, share with the class. You can even have the students think up a name for their “Kingdom”. Then, show them the real code of chivalry below, and discuss how similar in theme they are. You’ll be quite surprised!
Group your students in four and have them complete the Tic Tac Toe exercise on metaphor, simile, and certain definitions of words - have them race each other to get three in a row, X or fill up the board.

This is a great tool I use for kids who need a little extra help with being held accountable for their grades in class. Instead of having one after the other phone conversations with parents, I use this sheet everyday to check off if homework has been handed in or assigned, and at the end of the week list grades on quizzes or tests.
