Practice making 10 by using red/white double sided colored chips.
Students have 10 chips in a cup then they dump them out and count the red ones and white ones separately. They write the number in the correct box and then make/write an addition equation.
Also includes a differentiated version with colored coded words and lines when using red and yellow double sided chips.
Students can practice reading the number words (0-10) using this simple center idea.
The student will roll a dice and read the first word in the row. If they read it correctly they can color the box, if they don't read it correctly then they don't color and need to wait until their next turn to roll again. I like to have my students do this activity in pairs so they have a friend to help them if needed.
Easy and fun center activity to practice reading color words. Students will roll a dice and read the first word in the row and if they read it correctly they get to color the square, if they read it incorrectly they lose a turn.
This can be done individually or in small groups.
Students can also be guided to spell the word before and after they read it as well.
Prep: Sand bottle with large lima beans (color words pre-written on the beans) inside the bottle. Seal the top of the bottle so students can't open it.
Print and laminate the color sheet. Students then search the sand bottle for the beans and when they find one they read the color word and write the word on the corresponding color on the sheet.
(Colors include: red, yellow, gray, green, white, blue, pink, purple, orange, black and brown)
Easy and fun center activity to practice sight word reading. Students will roll a dice and read the first word in that row. If they read it correctly they can color the box. Continue rolling and reading one word at a time depending on the number they roll.
Can be played in pairs or individually. Students can also be instructed to spell each word before and after they read it as well.
