I started off as an outdoor enviromental education instructor, then moved into working as a scientist for the national park service. I have taught everything from a self-contained elementary class of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students in a rural classroom in a two room school, to teaching in an upscale suburban middle school as an Earth and Space Science and Life Science teacher. I also have two special needs adopted sons that my husband and I homeschool.

Language Of Biology
If I had to have only one tool to use with my biology students, it would be this list of commonly used Latin and Greek prefixes and suffixes. I literally give this to my students each nine weeks and have them put it in their binder or science notebook to use as part of their glossary. If they can know the literal translation of many of the parts of words we use in science, they can figure out a majority of the vocabulary for the year.
