Teaching style

I pride myself on creating a positive classroom environment that fosters self guided learning and inquiry. I push students to use higher level thinking skills and stretch to reach their highest potential by using whimsical activities that make learning fun. My goal is to not only boost the academic success of a student, but educate the "whole" student by encouraging them to become a productive member of society and good steward of our planet.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My 2012-2013 class of second grade students won the 2nd place Grand Award at the 2013 SARSEF science fair with their project "Are Your Hands Clean?" - a class experiment aimed to measure the effectiveness of hand sanitizer.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in English and a certification to teach secondary English Language Arts for grades 5-12.
