Kathleen Ladd

I have worked for the School District of Oconee County since 1989. In 2002, I received my National Board Certification in Middle School Generalist. I have served on multiple committees and currently I am serving on our school's Math Cohort that is focused on the CCSS.

My teaching style is based on respecting the diversity of my students, the needs of my students' parents/guardians to be participants in their child's education, and, to me, the core of all learning...fun:) A district leader once told me that he believed that I could teach with just a milk crate and a book and make it fun...well, after twenty-six years, I still strive to engage my students in activities that enhance their abilities and interject the element of fun. I honor the constrants imposed by my school administration, district and state...they provide the road...my job is to provide what type of vehicle we use along the way:)

National Board Certified Teacher 2002 - 2012, National Key Honor Society, Past President of the Council for Exceptional Child Chapter of Clemson University, recipient of two educational grants in both health and math, and honorable mention/nomination of the Disney Award along with my team teacher. In addition, I have severed on countless committees to help facilitiate collaboration when implementing revisions and adoptions of curriculum standards...the most recent being the CCSS Cohort in Mathematics.

I was born in Michigan and attended Leland High School...starting in the third grade and graduating in 1981. I was very involved in clubs such as the Honor Society and loved sports. I played basketball and was a forward on the first State Championship Team in 1980. Moved to South Carolina in 1984 and the rest is listed above. I am blessed to be a teacher...it is not a job it is who I am. I am a third generation teacher and very proud of it. I love serving my community through helping educate some of its children. I learn so much from my students...I always say that the day I think I know it all, is the day I need to retire. I am blessed to be a wife and a mother. I have a wonderful husband and two awesome children...my daughter, who is now grown and is finding her way in life and a stepson who may not be my biological son, but to me he is my son. I owe my career to my parents who have supported me emotionally to strive to be my best in all I do.
