A graphic organizer used to have students model decimals, show as a fraction, write in word form and percent.
I have used this organizer in many ways:
As a formative assessment: Give each student a different number to complete the organizer (great to differentiate by difficulty of number)
As a cooperative leaning activity:
Using dice. Students role two numbers and create that number as a decimal, percent, and fraction
Work with partner to make the largest decimal
Work with partners to compare d
This worksheet guides students in creating numbers by rolling three dice. The students then fill in each dice on the graphic organizer, represent the number in expanded form, and then standard form.
Data notbooks, leadership notebooks, call it what you want! This is the base template I use to create my students own data notebook. I use a three ting binder for all the documents. The document is available in Word so that you can add and delete the items you want to use in your own data notebook!
In this beginning of the school year activity I encourage students to browse through their classroom texts. This structured lesson allows student to dig into those new text books and share their excitement with purpose. Throughout the following scavenger hunts students identify areas of future studies, stories we will be reading, and share background knowledge that I can reference in planning future lessons.
