Day 1-
Have a discussion on how people can make their money grow. Introduce vocab for unit. Hand out Stock Market passage and answer questions about reading.
Day 2- 3
Vocab matching sheet quiz. Discuss dangers of investing in stocks. Hand out Danger in Stocks handout and answer questions.
Discuss stock symbols. Have students search symbols for 4 teacher chosen stocks and check progress of the stocks together across the week. Tell students they have $1000 to invest. They will

Use with a unit on States of Matter: Discusses 4 changes in water: Melting, freezing, condensation, and evaporation- What happens when object is affected by temp. changes?
After lesson, have students demonstrate the process of melting. Give each student an ice cube and see who can melt it the fastest. Leave a cup of water by the window and check level each day to demonstrate evaporation, etc.
Use during a unit on archaeology. We focused on paleontology for this lesson. Watch a BrainPop video or create a Smart Board on fossils to go along with these handouts. Great way to keep students focused during a lesson. Buy my separate fossil activity as a follow-up activity to this lesson!

Ancient History, Other (Social Studies), Social Studies
Students will use cardinal and intermediate directions to arrange furniture in their room.
2 handouts. - 1 has directions, other is used to arrange furniture.
Writing paper that allows students to check their sentence and rate their own writing. Students must go back and check their writing to make sure they can color in the star for using a capital, spaces, period, spelling sight words correctly, and for completing a full sentence. Font used is comic and penmanship print. Two versions available (single solid writing lines or three lines for writing).
Venn Diagram- students fill in titles and list similarities and differences between the two. Great for introducing Venn Diagrams- two paper options to use (one uses the term "both" in the center- great for beginners, and one does not).

You can edit the handout and delete the rectangle box and use additional lines underneath for writing and no illustrations.
You can also have the students dress up the assignment by adding fairy wings to the sides of the paper.
