About the store
I have been out teaching in the classroom in a multi age, multi ability setting in remote South Australia. In a particularly diverse room in 2015 (Kindergarten to Year 10), it occurred to me that teaching everything separately was simply not possible, so I developed a passion for Integrated Learning.
I have since been a Science Specialist for 3 years in a regional city in South Australia, and am now a Permanent Relief Teacher for 2020.
In 2022, I moved from Primary School to High School and absolutely love it. I also moved from public education to Catholic Education. These have been huge changes for me, but have re-invigorated my teaching and my resource creation.

Viking Ventures - History Project
Viking Ventures is a history project, focussed on the lives of Vikings. The major assessment piece is a Virtual Museum. I have built a website to support this, complete with all rubrics, peer assessment sheets and an example of a Virtual Museum for students to view. The link to this site is included in the teaching sequence. You are able to either use the suggested teaching sequence and resources to support your student's learning, or teach your own curriculum and just use the Virtual Museum

Viking Shield Art Project
A viking-themed visual arts project that incorporates shield design, authentic colour use and Viking Runes. Students research, design and create a shield in this term-long art project.

Literature based Integrated Design & Tech Unit Plan
This is a fully integrated unit that encompasses Design & Technologies, Digital Technologies, English, HASS and Mathematics across a themed unit. It uses the Lynley Dodd "Hairy Maclairy" and "Slinky Malinki" books as a base. There are suggestions through the unit plan of how to incorporate learning from the books into all subject areas, and hints and tips of how to display your students' learning. Any area of this unit could also be taught as a stand alone area.

Students will work in small groups, to study a gum tree on school grounds. They will present their findings on an A2 project card, and give a short presentation about what they learned during the project time of 4 weeks.

Political Party Assignment - Civics & Citizenship
A small group project that involves forming a political party with 2 other students, then creating names, logos and policies. Persuasive speaking, logo design, discussions, recording ideas and lots of decision making involved. Students will need to have a basic knowledge of how political parties are formed. Many great clips can be found on the Parliamentary Education Office site (Australia).

A board game template that requires only a die and a counter for each player. Laminate for durability.

Extreme Weather - Year 4/5/6 Unit Plan
A unit plan about cyclones, hurricanes and typhoons that covers a 10 week school term. Fits well into Year 4 and Year 6 Australian Curriculum Science Understanding standards. Also includes a section on cloud formations and weather reports, plus a major assessment task.

The Water Cycle - Year 2/3/4
A 9 week full unit plan for the water cycle at a Year 2/3/4 level. Includes parts of the water cycle and some small experiments/investigations to do. This unit plan also includes a 3 weeks STEM project, building a pipeline (after learning about how water travels).

The Dragon Dilemma
An open ended mathematics problem solving assignment. I used this as part of a Medieval History integrated unit, but it is also a good stand alone maths activity. Highly engaging, and can be extended to include writing tasks.

Guided Reading Activity Grid 2 - Non Fiction
The second grid in my set of Guided Reading activities for Non-Fiction texts. This set of activities will keep your class working while you run small group guided reading sessions. The activities last for 2 weeks, or even longer depending on your class grade level and how you use them. Guided Reading Activity Grid 3 - Fiction
A set of 12 activities that students can complete while the teacher works with a small guided reading group. These activities are based around the fiction book that the students are currently reading, and some activities assume that at least 1 fiction book has been read already. Use alone each 2 weeks, or pick up my other Guided Reading Activity Grids that will give you 6 weeks (or more depending on how you use them). The Grids are also available as a set.

Guided Reading Activity Grid 2 - Ficiton
An activity grid for students reading a fiction text to complete while the teacher runs a small group session. The activities are focussed on the book the students are reading, so they will need to have completed at least 1 book, and be reading one currently. These Grids are available as a set too, which is 6 weeks (or more) worth of guided reading activities.

Pipeline STEM Project
This project has students build a pipeline, after learning about the water cycle and how humans move water in our world. They work in small groups, and will test and re-test their pipeline often. I have taught this project twice now, and my students have loved it each time.

Guided Reading Activity Grid - Non-Fiction
A specialised activity grid for students reading non-fiction texts. Students complete these activities while the teacher is working with small guided reading groups. This grid is more than enough work for 2 weeks of guided reading time, and could even work for 3 weeks, depending on grade level and activity requirements. You can also pick up the second non-fiction activity grid, or grab both as a bundle!

Simple Machines & Rube Goldberg Machines Term Plan

Microsoft Word Skills 1 & 2
Need to check how well your class uses Word? Need to teach them to use Word? These two assignments start at the very beginning of Word skills. I have used these with multiple year levels to both assess and teach Microsoft Word editing skills. There are more advanced assignments too, Microsoft Word Skills 3 & 4 which include inserting shapes and adding images to a Word Document from the internet.

Teaching style
I love Integrated Learning as it makes learning so much deeper and more meaningful. I enjoy gamification of learning, and am currently improving my skills in Escape Rooms...keep an eye out for those!
I am firm in my expectations for behaviour, and have taught in a low socioeconomic area for the past 3 years with high percentages of trauma affected kids, poverty and social/emotional problems. This has challenged me deeply and at times made me question being a teacher. But...it has made me so much better than I ever thought possible.
While I still work in a lower SES area, being at a private school brings a different set of challenges. Also - now being a high school teacher, I get to specialise in the things I love - Maths and Science.

After spending 3 years as a Science Specialist teacher, my store has evolved to include a LOT of Science resources. They have all been used by me in a classroom situation. They have not been posted for sale unless they created some really great learning.
I am slowly uploading all the stuff I've created when there wasn't anything suitable out there for my needs. Everything is linked to the Australian Curriculum.
