An engaging, active lesson to teach Kinder/Pre-k students about event sequencing in stories, using the popular book “We’re Going On A Dinosaur Hunt,” by Anastasia Suen! This lesson starts with a read-aloud, followed by practice in event sequencing by placing images of the events in the story in order. Then, students get to re-enact the "Dinosaur Dig" by following each action throughout a playground/open school space. Bonus points if you can find someone to dress as a dinosaur at the end of the r

These bookmark-style book reviews will help to create a community around shared books in your early elementary classroom! These are ready-to-use and student-friendly (intended for first- to third-graders). Once students understand how to use them, all you have to do is keep a stack near your class library and encourage students to fill one out after they finish a favorite book. Then, when students are book shopping, they will know to look out for their classmates' favorites! I have even included
No prep activity to help early elementary students understand and practice the commutative property of addition! All you need is dice and printed copies of the worksheet. Students will roll two dice, find the first sum, and then switch the order of the addends to demonstrate understanding of the commutative property. Fun for students, easy for teachers!
Students become the teachers in this long division practice activity. Students create their own division problem by rolling dice to fill in the divisor and dividend. Then, they solve the problems and explain their thinking along the way. This activity is available in 3-by-1 and 2-by-1 long division grids.

I designed these worksheets to warm students up to the basics of long division (starting with the greatest place value, putting the answer on top, and moving to the next place value), BEFORE considering the "multiply, subtract, bring down" parts of the process. These are a great way to simplify the first step of the process, so students don't get bogged down in the logistics! The first worksheet is one-digit by two-digit, and the second is one-digit by three-digit, in which the divisor does not

I created this template to help students organize their research into subcategories. These are great if your students are researching a broad range of topics--they can be applied to almost any topic! Print them on colored paper to make them pop, then allow students to cut and paste them to their posters.
I designed this for my students to help organize their first drafts of their essays. This document guides students through drafted a 5 paragraph essay, by developing a thesis and breaking it down into reasons with evidence. After using this guide, students should be more prepared to write a final draft without the supports.
This poem can be used at the beginning or end of the day as a way to build classroom community and remind students that they are loved! Its simple refrain will be easy for littles to learn. Strengthen your community further by building dance or sign language into the refrain!
