Students will sound out each word containing the ch diagraph. Students will determine if the diagraph sound is at the beginning of the word or the end of the word. The student will glue the picture on the appropriate side of the t chart. The student will sound out spell the word on the line.

This PowerPoint is for two days. Day one allows the teacher to model how to use the number line to solve an addition problem. In the past, I have taped a clip-art of a frog on a pointer and used it to demonstrate "hoping" on the number line. Day two allows the student to review the steps for using the number line and practice themselves in whole group.

On this worksheet, students will decide if the number sentence is correct or false and will color appropriately.

This PowerPoint can be used to teach doubles addition. Get students involved by letting them draw their own ladybug dots when given the number sentence. Then, click to make dots appear on the ladybugs and check answers. You can add more to this activity by having your own ladybug that you mislabel and have students correct your work. Also, have students check their work with a partner.

This worksheet is a cut and paste in which students will select the correct answer to balance the number sentence. More than numerals are used. Students will have to solve using tally marks and number words as well.

Students will use a ten frame to understand "counting up" to subtract. The last few slides allow the teacher or students to fill in the needed chips to make the whole. Great for interactive boards.

This PowerPoint is a great tool to use when teaching the strategy of counting on. Be sure to look at the number sentences in advance and have the larger number written on a post it. You can then model putting the larger number "in your brain" and how to count on.

This quick PowerPoint is both a quick check and review for related facts. The slides begin with a chance for math talk. Then, students will indicate whether the two number sentences are related or not with their thumb up or down.

Find the missing part and write the addition and subtraction fact to match.

Call two students to the board with a fly swatter in hand. Call out the three numbers in a fact family. The two students race to be the first to find a number sentence in that family.

This PowerPoint can be used during lessons on common blends. The teacher will introduce the blend by placing the two letters in the blend in a pot. The teacher will "mix" the letters around and around. The teacher will pull out the blend and place it on the bowl on the board. Other ideas include pictures of words with those blends, words, etc. There are also slides with a picture in which teacher and students can practice sounding out and writing the simple, short vowel words.

Why are these sentences a command sentence and why isn't this one? In this quick lesson students will talk about what makes a sentence a command and will get to practice generating their own.

The student will pick five out of six pictures that contain the diagraph ph and glue them in box.

The student will select four out of six pictures to cut and paste on the wh bubble map. Correct answers include white crayon, wheel, whistle, and whale.
