A great activity for a unit on plants! Students will take on various roles such as the sun or different plant part and will write in various forms, such as a thank you letter, campaign speech, and a set of directions. The activity will show their understanding of material such as the difference between conifers and flowering plants or the process of photosynthesis. This way is much more fun than just answering questions!!
This a powerpoint, complete with timers, to take students through an activity where they write and then follow directions. My students love drawing their monsters and this was excellent practice in both communication, writing, and reading! When we were finished, we glued the pictures side by side, with the directions underneath for a fun hallway display!
A great culminating project for a chapter on charts, graphs, and plots. Each student developed a survey question and gathered data in class. They then had three weeks to complete the project at home. Project guidelines as well as a rubric are included!
This in an inquiry based lesson on density. The power point presentation starts with an activity. You will need foil and containers of water to complete it. It then goes into an explanation of density and ends with an evaluation of the students original designs.
This is a differentiated activity by choice. Students have several product options to show their understanding of the simple machines. Each student will end up with five activities done.
Power point with a Thanksgiving theme that can be done with your class to review dividing, interpreting remainders, multiplication, adding money, expanded/word form, and answering word problems.
