This is a project I developed for my 8th grade classes after looking at some similar ideas from colleagues. It is a portfolio that I have my students put together in place of a final exam. It demonstrates a little of each of the topics that we covered in 8th grade.

Experience
I am currently a high school Spanish teacher. I have been in my current position for 4 years and prior to this taught middle school for 17 years.
Teaching style
I would call my teaching style eclectic. I love working with middle school students and am always seeking to find ways to reach the middle school learner and yet still offer quality Spanish language experiences. I love using music and video in the classroom as a way to enhance the language learning environment.
My own education history
I was a Latin American Studies major in college. After college, I joined the Peace Corps and worked in education in Honduras. Upon return to the United States, I entered a graduate program for teaching in Wichita, Kansas where I also bean my career in teaching middle school. I earned a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wichita State University. Shortly after the birth of my children, I returned to the East Coast to be near my extended family. I have been at my current school district for the past 18 years.
Additional biographical information
I am also a single mother to 18 year old twin girls who are the light of my life. They are now headed off to college to begin their own journeys.
