This unit is designed for 4th-6th graders (depending on reading level) for the book Savvy, by Ingrid Law. A fun way to encourage reading for pleasure! Students make a bookmark, dreamcatcher or necklace to hang beads on at the beginning of the year. Each time they read a new book, they can earn a new bead to add to it. In my class, I have students post a book review on Seesaw before they are able to earn their bead. This may be used as an introduction, activity, or assessment for types of clouds within a meteorology unit. There are two versions of the graphic organizer. One version comes with the descriptions of the clouds. The other version requires students to write in their own description of the clouds. Both versions will give students the opportunity to either draw multiple types of clouds, or model them with cotton balls.

This graphic organizer and response sheet gives students a chance to reflect on their grades and set a goal. This is a good activity to do before Parent Teacher Conferences, and share with parents at the conference. Khan Academy is a great resource to use in the classroom or assign for homework. With this graphic organizer, students can display information they have learned from various videos to the rest of the class. This can be used as an enrichment for gifted students, support for struggling students (especially with math!) or homework. The organizer includes: video topic and summary, three things learned, three questions, recommendation and rating.

A series of three 4th grade math activities using candy hearts. Students begin by recording what percent and fraction of their hearts are each color. They will then move on to graphing that information on bar graph. Finally, they will conduct a survey about Valentine's Day, gather data, and display their results as a pictograph.

Use this menu to differentiate assignments for students after reading a book. This can be used in reading groups, whole class novel studies, or for a book students read for pleasure. Assign the amount of points you would like students to complete. They may choose multiple assignments to complete the assigned amount, or can do a higher value assignment to reach their goal.
