Comparing Numbers
Students count and compare the two sets of base 10 blocks. Students put the greater than, less than or equal to sign in the middle. Students then record their answer on the recording sheet. Center is differentiated and has 3 levels (1-10, 11-20, 21-30).

Sight Words - Fishing For Beginning Sounds
Students say the beginning sound of the picture in the fish tank. Students find the fish that has the corresponding letter. Once students have found all sounds for each fish tank, it builds a sight word. Students scan the QR code to check their answer. To add a writing piece, students can write the word they built or use it in a sentence.

Sight Word POP!
Students pull a card out of a container. If student says the sight word correctly, they get to keep the card. If they say it incorrectly, they must put the card back in the container. If a student pulls out the card that says “POP,” student has to put all their cards back in the container.

Experience
Hi! This is my 8th year teaching! I spent 7 years teaching Pre-K and then was "promoted" to Kindergarten this year! I love them both but the challenge of Kindergarten is exciting!
Teaching style
I always try and find what bests works for each of my students. If it works, I use it. If it does not, I toss it! I believe in meeting each and every one of my students where they are and pushing them to succeed in all areas. I love each and everyone of my students as if they were my own and think to myself daily, is this the type of teacher/activity I would want my own child doing at school!
Awards & shining teacher moments
I served as a model teacher and classroom for the past 3 years. I have served as grade level chair in Pre-K for 3 years. Also serve as a mentor to new teachers within the school.
My own education history
I graduated in 2006 from University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a B-K teaching license. I have completed in a year at NC A&T State University in the Masters of Reading Education program. I am currently taking a break to focus on my (now) 2 year old daughter.
Additional biographical information
I am married to the greatest, God loving man! We have been married for 9 1/2 years and have a beautiful daughter. I love teaching, scrapbooking, the beach, and creating/finding new ways to engage my students and better the future success of all students within the school.
