Kendrew's Math

I have been a middle school math teacher for 9 years, including 2 years as the school Math Specialist. My experiences outside of the classroom include developing a comprehensive assessment system, creating a school-wide intervention system, working on district curriculum and assessment, and collecting and analyzing assessment data.

I approach teaching math in a way that every concept and skill builds on the previous concept and skill. I create lessons and materials that help students think deeply about the math and make meaningful connections. By the time that we are taking notes or having direct instruction on a learning target, students should already have a strong understanding of the content through exploration, discourse, and application.

- PAEMST (Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching) 2017 Vermont State Finalist - Co-president, VCTM (Vermont Council of Teachers of Mathematics) - Lead speaker for sessions at several conferences including NCTM regional conference, VCTM annual conference, and other local conferences.
