Experience

Teaching style

I currently use a variety of methodologies in my classroom. My classroom is set up as a TEACCH classroom with use of ABA/Verbal Behavior. I strongly believe in cultivating a highly motivating and age appropriate environment for students with special needs.

Awards & shining teacher moments

As a coach I presented my school's PBIS state validated program at the state VESID conference in Saratoga Springs. I also wrote a successful state grant which allowed my former school to participate in a school-to-school PBIS mentoring program. I have also conducted research through an autism program at Pace University on using DIR/Floortime and structured play methods to assist students with communication and social skills. My group's research was also presented at a state educator's conference.

My own education history

I have my Bachelors degree in English and French with a Masters in English Literature. I then joined the NYC Teaching Fellows in 2003 and gained my Masters in Special Education while working in the city schools. In addition I have a post-masters certificate in Severe Disabilities through the Pace TARA Autism program.
