When I became a mom I realized how important it was to start teaching our children basic writing skills at a young age, especially since they are required to spell their name as early as head start and preschool. Before my daughter started kindergarten, I tried teaching her the basics like writing the letters of the alphabets and writing her name, but the obstacle my daughter faced was visualizing how to write each letter of the alphabet and making each alphabet letter legible. By the time she started kindergarten she was continuously struggling with her writing skills. I had her tested and she was tested border line dyslexia. Through further researching on my own, I learned she was also dysgraphic. I was somewhat familiar with dyslexia but dysgraphia, which is a learning disability in writing, I was not familiar with. I started researching materials that could better assist my daughter, but the educational materials for dysgraphia were limited. That's when I created Kidznote® paper. The lined paper allows enough space to practice writing skills, and the coded alphabet letters gives a visual of how to write each letter. My daughter is in college now, and she still has challenges. But she said the color coded alphabet letters really helped her to visualize how to write the alphabet letters.
