Based on the hit show Shark Tank, students will create a product and business plan to pitch to the "Sharks". This product comes complete with the student packet, certificate for students, questions/script for the sharks, and teacher hints for how to make this a hit! This fun and engaging activity helps students to see and understand cross sections of 3-D shapes. With Play-Dough, the students will form the 3-D shapes. They will then carefully cut the dough different directions to see the cross sections. All answers should then be drawn in the provided box.

This is a great cooperative learning activity that allows the students to practice their skills in finding volume and dimensions. It is aligned to Common Core State Standards 5.MD.4 and 5.MD.5 .
Students will be in partners. Together they will share one paper and once pencil. Students take turns either talking through the problem and answering it or watching, listening, coaching, and praising the other partner.
This activity follows the Kagan Structure: Rally Coach.
In this activity, students will find the area, circumference, diameter, and radius of objects around the classroom. In order to do so, they will be able to use a ruler and a piece of string.

24 different Quiz Quiz Trade cards for students to use to practice or review different place value questions. Questions are aligned to 5th grade math NBT standards.
Each student will get a card (multiple copies of questions can be made if needed to accommodate larger class sizes). Students will move around the room practicing with different partners. One partner will quiz the other and then the partners will switch roles. After they each quiz, they will trade cards and find a new partner.
Students will practice solving percent problems in this engaging activity. Answer cards will be hung around the room and students will solve the problems that they are provided on their answer sheet. When they find the answer, they will write where in the room they found the answer. Students love this activity that gives them the opportunity to get up and move while learning!
