We have been teaching FDK from the start and these plans have worked well to be able to teach the curriculum in an order that works for times of year and skills needed to learn important concepts before other skills. It leaves lots of room for interest but gives you the expectations and topics that can work. If you find these useful see our other resources for centres and small groups for the year.
The Block centre should be a place that children can share ideas, problem solve both socially and with the design process and explore with a variety of materials that promote both fine motor and gross motor skills. Provide 4-6 choices of building materials, offer challenges, have books and writing material available.
Literacy groups should be shared between ECE's and teachers and for the most part should be ability based working with students where they are at to move them forward in their learning.
