5 days of multiplication activities based on the book Minnie's Diner A Multiplying Menu. Each sheet is differentiated for on grade level and above grade level learners. Guides students to see the relationships between sets of factors to help them develop strategies to learn basic multiplication facts.

3.MD.7D is addressed in this activity where students decompose a shape into smaller rectangles to find the total area.

3.NF.3A, B, and C are addressed as students use a Hersheys candy bar to discover equivalent fractions. Differentiated for struggling learners as well.

Students explore fractions using Cuisenaire Rods.

This activity supports 3.NBT.2 and students use a broken 100s chart to solve riddles by moving on the chart. Goes great with the Math Solutions book It Makes Sense Activities on the 100s chart.

This differentiated activity goes along with the book Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts. Students brainstorm different ways Jeremy could pay for his shoes using only $1, .10, or .01. The shoes Jeremy wants to buy are different amounts based on student skill level. This goes along with 3.NBT.2.

This blank 1000 chart is separated by 100s. Was used in my classroom to make a large 1000s chart for students to use in class discussions about making 1000.

This activity addresses 3.MD.8 and has students solving riddles to build rectangles with certain areas and perimeters.

This checklist can be used while conferring with students or as a daily work documentation sheet. It also includes a page to document student progress on the 21 different problem types for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. A page to document student understanding on the properties of operations is also included.

I made this sheet to go along with the multiplication game Target 300 from Marilyn Burns. Students use their knowledge of the associative property and multiplying by multiples of 10 (range of 10-90) 3.NBT.3 to prove if an equation is true or false. They use the partial products strategy to prove it.

3.MD.8 is addressed as students solve word problems about perimeter.

These sheets are differentiated for making 10, 15, 20, 100 and 1000 using a part-part-whole box. Students solve for the missing part.

3.MD.8 is addressed as students build multiple rectangles with the same perimeter. They are to notice that as the perimeter of a rectangle remains the same the area continues to change.

3.MD.8 is addressed as students build rectangles with color tiles that solve the riddle when given clues about the area, perimeter, length of sides, etc.

3.MD.6 is addressed as students build rectangles using a certain number of color tiles. They are asked to think about what is staying the same and changing with each set of rectangles. They will notice that the area is remaining the same while the perimeter is changing.

Students solve riddles about various sized rectangles by building arrays. One sheet just using terms of columns and rows while a 2nd sheet relates the arrays to area.

3.MD.8 is addressed as students are asked to design a new playground shape. Their playground must meet certain perimeter and area requirements.

3.MD.8 is addressed as students build multiple rectangles with the same area and figure the perimeter of each rectangle. They will notice that as the area remains the same the perimeter is changing.
