About the store

Thank you for visiting my store! I have been teaching for 17 years. Currently, I teach 9th grade English (standard & Pre-AP). I also teach 12th grade Dual Enrollment English. Teaching is my jam. I strive to design fun, innovative lessons that integrate technology to motivate our students to enjoy learning! I am a secondary education major. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education and a Masters Degree in Secondary Reading. Currently, I am in school working on my doctorate degree. Upon completion of the course program, I will have a ED.d in Secondary Education Curriculum and Instruction.

Experience

Teaching style

My teaching style varies upon the standard I am teaching and, most importantly, I base my teaching style on my students' learning needs. I find that the use of technology and allowing students to be creative makes a big difference in the motivation and excitement of student learners. I also love to incorporate game-based learning (e.g. Gimkit, Kahoot, & Blooket) into my lessons as well.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My students won 1st place in a Writing Contest that took place in Memphis, TN called "Cop Stop". We competed against six other schools and were interviewed by our local news station upon winning first place. I was nominated and voted "Teacher of the Week" by News Channel 3 and presented with an apple trophy in my classroom one day totally taken by surprise! Cameras and the news crew were everywhere!

My own education history

I graduated Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) in 2009 with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Secondary Education and a Masters Degree in Secondary Reading. Currently, I am in school working on my doctorate degree. Upon completion of my program, I will have a Doctoral of Education in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction.
