About the store
I have experience teaching Pre-Kindergarten/Preschool, Kindergarten and grade 2 but most of my experience is in Kindergarten and Preschool. Although I never dreamed that I would be an early learning teacher, I have managed to become obsessed with Preschool and Kindergarten students, particularly developing their literacy and numeracy skills. All my letter, sound, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, number, patterning, shape, etc. products have been developed directly from my experience in the classroom. I have learned that Preschool and Kindergarten students learn best with games and hands-on activities, so the vast majority of my products reflect that.

Experience

Teaching style

I believe in play based learning for Preschool and Kindergarten students but I also believe that it is extremely important for them to develop literacy and numeracy skills during these years. For this reason, I enjoy playing and creating games and hands-on activities for teaching letters, sounds, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading skills, numbers, patterns, shapes, and so on. Playing is incredibly important for Preschool and Kindergarten students for so many reasons so I try to incorporate a playful aspect to my products as much as possible. I am also completely obsessed with teaching students to read, so letters, sounds, phonemic awareness, phonics, and reading skills are my main focus in the school day and are reflected in the products I create. Numeracy skills are a close second for me, so you will also see many products that develop number sense, patterning skills, and shape knowledge.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I received an award for Academic Excellence in Primary/Elementary Education university and was also nominated for an award for excellence in first year teaching.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts, and Bachelor in Primary/Elementary Education.

Additional biographical information

I am a Newfoundlander (East Coast of Canada) living in Alberta (West Coast of Canada). I have a husband who is a high school teacher and we have two young daughters, Brielle and Logan. Brielle and Logan also provide inspiration for me when developing products because, of course, I am interested in developing their literacy and numeracy skills as well. My sister is also a Kindergarten teacher, and she tests all my products in her classroom as well.
