This zip folder contains 22 files I created as part of our literature study on the book "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler." 2 pre test sheets per page and 2 post test sheets per page. Can be printed double-sided and then cut down the middle so the pre & post tests are on the front and back. Students can quickly and easily see their improvement from one test to the next.
My students do weekly literacy centers that they rotate through. This is a checklist I developed so students would know how many times they were expected to go to each center during a week. Each student had a copy of this in a plastic sheet protector in their center binder and would use a Vis-a-Vis marker to initial when they finished a center. I would also give the student choice centers during the week that they could do when they finished other centers.
This is a missing poster created for the book "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler". Students create a poster for each missing child that the parents or the police may have posted. The students draw a picture of the missing child, last known location, give a physical description of him/her, and provide contact information if missing child is seen.

This is a 2-page document that can be used with any novel. Using the idea of literature circle roles, this document has sections for vocabulary, connections, summary, predictions, questions, and visualizing all in one. This is meant for one student to complete so all students are accountable for the same information.

Cut this page in half and give one to each student. Allow them to search your classroom library to hunt for non-fiction text features such as table of contents, glossary, index, etc. The students can use a classroom camera to take a picture to document their find and then check off their find on the checklist as they work.
This document helps students brainstorm adjectives that describe a central topic. They can then use these adjectives to create Adj+N sentences or N+V+Adj sentences.
This is a simple book report form for students to use to summarize a book they have read and to make a text-to-self, text-to-text, or text-to-world connection.
At the culmination of every week, students would fill out a brief form to reflect on their successes as well as to set goals for the upcoming week.
