About the store
I have been teaching for 18 years. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. People often ask which of these is my favorite. That's almost impossible to choose! The joy you find in an 8 year old as he learns to multiply is just as wonderful as the achievement you see in an 11 year old's smile as she completes a report on the Civil War. Being in the middle of learning is my favorite thing.

About the store

Experience

I have been teaching for 18 years. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. People often ask which of these is my favorite. That's almost impossible to choose! The joy you find in an 8 year old as he learns to multiply is just as wonderful as the achievement you see in an 11 year old's smile as she completes a report on the Civil War. Being in the middle of learning is my favorite thing.

Teaching style

There has to be fun and flair in learning that is balanced by boundaries and calm. I endeavor to give my students the most creative lessons that ignite in them a yearning for more. I let my students know that I am here to give them every opportunity to learn and grow. They are our future.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My shining moment? When I happened to meet a student I taught 16 years ago and they said, "I so loved your class! I still remember all about Hercules! That's why I took more mythology in college!" I have hosted two educational videos available from the Technology in Education office in Rapid City. One was on formative assessment and the other was on bullying.

My own education history

I have my bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. I worked in television and radio for a decade before I became a teacher. I chose teaching so that I could help make this world a better place - one student at a time.

Additional biographical information

I am married to a great guy. Together we raised a super young man. I am so lucky to have these two men in my life.
