I have been teaching 3rd grade since Fall 2012. I am a math and ELA teacher leader for my district. I am currently designing a scope and sequence and curriculum for 3rd grade in the area of math and ELA. Before that, I worked in many different positions ranging from a long-term sub to working in a behavioral classroom.

Multiplication Array Matching Game
Great game to match multiplication fact with it's array! I do recommend putting a smiley face sticker (or another shape or figure that can be placed right side up) on the back because the students may not find whether or not the multiplication sentence matches the array. Great Math Center or something for early finishers!

Testing Treat-You're a Starburst of Knowledge!
I put these on plastic baggies and filled them with Starburst candies. It was a nice little treat for the students before they began their standardized testing. Next test they were hoping for another bag!

Multiplication Commutative Property Worksheet
This is a worksheet/center that requires dice. The student would roll the dice twice and write down the two numbers to in the Roll column and complete the multiplication sentence. Then they draw the area for that multiplication sentence. In the Commutative Property column, they write the Commutative Property of the original multiplication sentence and then draw the new array. Great Math Center or something for early finishers!

Works on writing numbers (standard form, both word forms, and expanded form), drawing numbers using base ten pieces, and finding all combinations with a word problem. Aligns with Envisions Math Program Topic 1.

Ordering Fractions Clothesline Activity
Great whole class activity for ordering fractions! I got a long piece of yarn and taped it up on the wall. I then use clothespins and place 0 and 2 on the clothesline. Then the class and I work through the rest of the cards together to order them. Print out the pictures on the back of the fractions to help some students that may have some difficulty comparing the fractions.

Parent-Teacher Conferences Sheet
I use this sheet for Parent-Teacher Conferences in my third grade classroom. It is something I complete for each student, copy and keep to use while completing report, which is extremely helpful. It is also helpful because it is something I can send home with the parents if we run out of time so they can reflect and call me if they have any questions. Also, it helps the parents that want to work on things at home with their child!

Thanksgiving Writing Assignment
This file includes an outline/steps to follow in order to write the assignment for students to use as a checklist when completing the writing piece. Multiplication Card Center
Print cards with numbers on the back. Place the cards in a baggy. Have students choose a card out of the baggy and look at the number on the back. Students then write their answer on the line next to that number and draw picture to represent their answer. Great math center!

I use this PowerPoint presentation to help review different math concepts before our standardized tests in Massachusetts. This covers many third grade standards. I usually put my students in groups and see who can get the most points while completing the review. The students have fun with it!

Writing About Reading Bookmark
This is a bookmark designed to help students write about their reading. It helps students decide what they are going to write about and develop a thesis. It also helps the students prove their thesis and provide evidence to support their thesis. Writing about reading is an important skill for students to have continuous practice with and this bookmark will give them support while doing it.

Experience
I have been teaching 3rd grade since Fall 2012. I am a math and ELA teacher leader for my district. Before that, I worked in many different positions ranging from a long-term sub to working in a behavioral classroom.
Teaching style
I teach my lessons depending on my students. There are many differentiated lessons in my classroom where I realize that some students may need more/less support than others. My classroom is probably very loud compared to other classrooms. There are a lot of moments where my students turn-and-talk, are working with partners, and completing group projects. I set high expectations for all of my students and they know that! I believe each students has the potential to learn and do their best, so I hold them to it!
My own education history
I grew up in a more urban district during my elementary years and in 8th grade moved to a more suburban area where I attended middle school and high school. I went to UNCP for one year for college. After, I attended Fitchburg State University in Fitchburg, MA. I also received my masters in Reading Specialist at Fitchburg State University.
