Have your students ever asked "Where am I ever gonna use this in real life?". Well, they'll be able to answer that questions after doing this assignment. In this assignment, students will research the math topic in depth including the mathematician who discovered it, where it is used in real life and how. This is great for an end of year, end of the quarter or extra credit assignment or just for a break in the action. Included in this 6 page packet are instructions/description of assignment

As a math teacher, I am often asked “where are we ever going to use this in real life?” Well, this assignment IS real life math. Everything you need is included in this 2 page assignment. Students will choose a career, figure the starting salary for that job, take taxes out of their pay, figure out their bills for the month and see what's left over for them to spend. It is a great assignment to get them thinking about how much they would need to earn to live on their own someday. It is a ni

Pascal's Triangle is one of the wonderments of Algebra! The many patterns, mystifying attributes and the many uses of this triangle are all covered here. This packet is sure to wow your students and hopefully spark an appreciation for the beauty of Pascal's Triangle. Make it a one day, two day, or week long lesson depending on how much of this packet you want to cover. I spend quite a bit of time reviewing all of this with my Algebra 2 students because I love it so much and I know they will,

I created this printable math game to be fun, educational, engaging and to make kids think. The object of the game is to create problems using order of operations that have the answer of 2. Everything you need to play this game (2-6 players) is included and ready for you to print, laminate and cut. Print multiple sets if you wish so you will have enough cards for your entire class to play. This would make a great homeschool game as well. You will get a deck of 72 playing cards, instructions

Have some Thanksgiving fun the day or two prior to Thanksgiving break! Your students will enjoy solving this little puzzle that has an answer with a mathematical answer. Students will be given equations written in standard form and have to rewrite them in slope-intercept form. They will then identify the slope of the line. Match the answer with the key on the bottom and you will get a letter to solve the puzzle. Great for after a short quiz or just for a Thanksgiving treat!

This is a rubric-type sheet that allows students to rate themselves to see where they can improve. They rate themselves in 4 areas on a scale from 1-5 (all detailed) and then total their points. This shows they where they can improve as a student. I use this as a 20 point assignment and whatever they score themselves, if I agree, that's their grade. I've seen improvement in student behavior, classwork and preparedness from giving this to students quarterly.
