I created this Folktale Writing Activity from the inspiration of Mrs.Kellet's 2nd Grade Class blog. http://mrskellettsclass.blogspot.com/2012/05/folktales.html . She had her students write a story about how some animals got their "long trunks", "spots", or "eight legs". It will fit perfectly into any folktale unit. I know all students will love this creative writing activity. Students will write their stories and illustrate them. Print the "How an ________ Got Its _______" tags on colore
This packet includes 10 pages. Eight pages are printables for students to write letters (Mother's Day, Father's Day, one blank, Santa letter, 2 turtle letters, smiley face, one inlcudes a rubric). There are letter labels to cut out for students to paste on the letter. One page has 4 letter rubric for students to self check.
This is a wonderful resource for any classroom. It's a Turtle themed behavior clip chart to hang. Students or the teacher will move clips according to student behavior.

Students will begin each day on "Ready to Learn". During the day students will move their clips up or down depending on how their day is going. All pages could be used or just what you need for your purposes. The pages can be hooked together by rings or posted on a wall.
There are 3 standards to a page. This is the teacher version of the standards. They are great for posting the standards to view in the classroom or hallway with student work.
There are 3 standards per page. Standards could be posted in the classoom, in the hallway with student work, and/or used for a center for students to write about the standard in their own words.
My classroom theme will be frogs & wanted to make something similar to Jitter Juice, so I created the Frog Juice labels. Thank you to http://www.digiwebstudio.com/store/ for having some of the cutest frog images I've seen. Please check her out for much more amazing images that can be purchased.
This is aligned with Second Grade Common Core. A 3 or 4 digit number is on a barrel to go with an fall/apple theme. Students will fill in a sheet to show the picture form of the number, expanded form of the number, and word form.
