This packet is designed to be used during a teacher read-aloud or students independent read for older students. At the conclusion of each chapter, I have the students draw a picture of something important from the chapter, write a sentence about the chapter, and use a thinking stem to think about their thinking. I use this form for my "Student of the Day." I make notes about how he or she did in all the main subject areas, and then attach any work to it. The students write back to me, and the parents write back to me. I choose one student per day, but only get to each student about twice a year. Parents love the communication!
