Experience

I have been a 6-12 math teacher for 35 years. I have taught everything from 6th grade math to precalculus and trigonometry. The last 10 years I have taught 7th grade math and algebra 2. I work in a small school and enjoy seeing my 7th graders again in high school.

Teaching style

I am not a fancy teacher. However, I do enjoy switching up my lesson styles. The 2 styles I use the most are practice worksheets with answer banks for the students to use to help check their work. I have found they work harder on these than they do if they don't have an answer bank. My other most common delivery is using a spiral review. Teach a short lesson. Give a few new problems and then focus on review concepts they already know. Students make connections and apply them to new material. The connections help them learn and retain information.
