I start each class period with a two-part bell ringer. The 'left side' is to be completed individually which the students entering answers into their Interactive Notebook and the 'right' side is used as a 'turn and talk' and then as a class discussion. The 'right side' focuses on political cartoons, charts / graphs and higher order types of questions. This set includes 40 pdfs to use as bell-ringers at the start of class. I have the students do the 'left side' independently and then discuss the 'right side' with table partner. We then 'go over' the bell ringer. I use set for my 7th graders to reinforce and review those topics that are important in the content.
