I have been teaching for 7 years now and I am currently on leave as I have just had my fist child. I have taught a range of grades and have a lot of experience with birth to 5 year olds.
There are two activities for students to consolidate learning on ordinal numbers 1-5 and 1-10. This activity could be laminated and used as a math group activity.
There are a variety of activities in this package to assist students in learning:
- what order the days of the week appear in
- classify weekdays from weekends
- using language like yesterday, today, tomorrow
- spelling of the days of the week
These activities are also great assessment tools.
This game is played individually or in pairs. All you need is a game card, some counters and a range of dice. Children double the number rolled and move the corresponding counter until one counter reaches the finish line.
These game cards provide students with the opportunity to develop or refine subtraction skills. All students are playing the same game, but it is differentiated for their individual learning needs.

This is a great whole class activity to assist students in reading larger numbers. Each child gets a card. The child who has the card marked (Start card) begins. You continue around the class until you read the finish card. The cards can then be shuffled and played as many time as you like. If you laminate and cut the cards out they last a lot longer.
This resource is a series of game cards assisting children to refine their addition skills. The game is played the same but the number added to the rolled dice increases and the dice become larger.
These two worksheets consolidate learning on punctuation. In the first worksheet children are asked to add in the correct punctuation using full stops, capital letters, commas and question marks. The second sheet asks students to create their own sentences using the same punctuation.
News Chart I print this poster in A3 and laminate it. I than write students names on each day of the week with whiteboard marker. This allows flexibility when new students arrive or leave without having to print a new chart. You can also write on names and then laminate if preferred.

There are several ways you can use these sheets
Whole Class: Display in room and children can add to it when working.
Small Groups: Children share a couple of sheets as a group and all add words to them.
Individually: Children have their own sheet and might work on one or two words at a time.
The last sheet is blank so you can write in any other words. I have used high frequency sight words. I use magazines, catalogues and newspapers but these could be substituted for other written materials.
This game of Bingo assist students to develop knowledge of 18 high frequency words. If the game cards are laminated they last a lot longer. All you need is a game card for each student, the list of words (these are in the resource) and some counters. It can be played in small groups, teams or whole class. The teacher or older student call out the words or holds up the flash card and children put a counter on any of those words on their game card. A student can call out bingo when they have a co
These worksheets are great for assisting students to develop the language to describe objects based on their length.
They can be used 3 ways:
1. Just as worksheets
2. Laminated and used in groups
3. As an assessment
To use these worksheets I first read and story. We discuss the main events and I would model using the sheet. Students are asked to draw a picture of the main events – one in each box. Then using the writing scaffold students write a couple of sentences about each picture. The final worksheet can be used to write a final copy after editing or more capable students can use it instead of the structured one.
This assessment gives you an over view of students skills in the following areas:
-Writing numerals
- Shapes 2D and 3D
- Patterns
- Graphs
- Size, Area and Length
This package has four activities to built on students understanding of what nouns and verbs are.
