I display this poster in my classroom to remind my students that our school is a safe and happy place!

My students love fact family houses! These cute houses really help them understand how addition and subtraction are inverse operations. This activity is done after we have introduced fact triangles, so they understand that the roof is the triangle that contains the three numbers. We learn that families live together, and they don't let strangers into their houses. As part of the IB PYP program, students keep a portfolio of their best work that travels with them throughout elementary school. We use 3-inch binders with this cover to make them consistent throughout the school. The design reminds students of the six units of inquiry and that we are working to become global citizens.

I use these in my elementary classroom as a simple visual to remind students of appropriate voice levels. I cut and laminate each card, then clip the proper one onto the board during an activity. 0 - No Talking 1- Whisper 2 - Table Talk 3 - Strong Speaker 4 - Outside I also use hand signals to show on a scale of 0-4 where the noise should be. My students participated in an informal reading club over the summer. To give them recognition for their work, I printed cute certificates to hand out on the first day of school. These would be great to encourage readers K-5.
