This is a project that I use for AP American Government, but it can be easily adapted to other subjects and grade levels by reducing or increasing the requirements and choosing from a number of focus areas listed in the project. The gist of the project is a comparison of two print or boradcast news sources over a period of time. Comparing Fox to CNN is one suggested example. You will receive two full papes of instructions with your purchase.

I've used Blade Runner in a film class and Speculative Lit. This study guide has 23 questions on the Director's Cut of the movie. Some basic film questions are included but this is easily adaptable to a discussion that is less focused on film per se.

These are documentary films that I have used in class, or for projects, or for independent studies. One word of caution-- most documentaries are unrated, but might still be too mature for a given audience.

These are study questions that I used in a tenth grade English class for three separate films: BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM, RABBIT PROOF FENCE, STRICTLY BALLROOM. There are at least ten questions for each film. The questions were given to studetns to think about while watching. They caqn be used for discussion or writing assignments and would work equally well in English and Social Studies.

This is a list of about 45 current books that relate to the study of U.S. Government. They are books of comparable length (200-400) words and most are readily available at libraries or Amazon. For my AP class this list produced very good independent reading results. Check back in January '07 for the cool podcast assignment I use for independent readings.

This is part two of a five part lecture on Presidential Roles. It complements HOLT"S AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, chapter 7, section one. The lectures can also be used independent of the Holt text. Most government and civics classes consider the multi-faceted roles of the presidency. The examples I use in the lecture are original, and my lecture is based on my experience teaching governemnt from four different texts.
