Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers can be complicated to explain to students. This is my method of teaching it and have found it effective because it keeps everything as simple as possible. Answer key attached.
Have students work in groups/pairs to simplify each card and sort them from least to greatest. Covers exponents, negative exponents, and zero exponents. Variation: give one card to each student and have them get in order from least to greatest as a whole class.
Have students match expressions in the left column to the equivalent expression in the right column. Side one: scientific notation Side two: exponents (negatives and zero exponents included)
