Beginning of 2nd Grade Math Spiral (Number Sense Focus)
This product is meant to be used at the end of 1st grade or beginning of 2nd grade to help spiral math concepts. Research shows that regular spiraling of concepts helps encourage mastery. Here is a quick, no prep resource to get you started! This spiral is pretty number sense heavy. It is also includes some basic facts, word problems (addition and subtraction 1-20), counting coins, and basic bar graph/tally chart interpretation. You can use this as a quiz, homework, or general benchmar

The activities included in this unit are linked to Dr. Seuss' 1 Fish 2 Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
Included in this mini unit are two ELA activities and two math activities. They can be used as a lesson, part of a math or literacy station, or even as an activity to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday! I have even used some activities as morning work on the day that my students celebrate literacy month!

I have 5 years of experience in 3rd grade and am currently teaching my second year of 2nd grade.
Teaching style
I hope instill a growth mindset by giving my students challenging material that lends itself to critical and independent thinking. My style includes a lot of modeling and self guided practice. I try to incorporate play and use of manipulatives into most lessons to develop a strong understanding of concepts taught.

I have SUCH a love for learning. I am absolutely addicted to pod casts. While I am teaching, I will constantly share with my students fun new information learned from what I have most recently heard. I hope that my love is infectious. I want my students to see my passion and get excited too.
I love chocolate. I always have a stash of cocoa roasted almonds in my classroom.
There is constantly music playing in my classroom. Spotify playlists are the best. We listen to strings versions of popular songs. It lets us have fun but not get too distracted.
