About the store
Hard to believe it but this will be my 17th year teaching! In those 17 years, I have taught kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in 2 very different school districts. After 11 years in kindergarten, I will be moving back to 2nd grade and I'm looking forward to the change (and challenge!). Thirteen years ago, I was selected to participate in a unique science professional development opportunity along with 50 other local teachers. For 3 years, we improved our content knowledge and teaching instruction to strengthen our students experiences in science. I am now so lucky to say that I was selected for the same grant, this time focusing on refining our math content knowledge and instruction for the next 5 years!

My 5 Senses Emergent Reader!

Created by

This 5 Senses reader is a fun way to engage students in learning about their 5 senses! I love to use these while learning about the 5 senses during science, but they also work well in centers, in a small group, for fast finishers, or whole group lesson. They also are perfect for students to read during independent reading! This reader focuses on the sight words: I, use, my, to. If you like this 5 Senses Emergent Reader, please check out my other emergent readers here. Please email me at thetea

Teaching style

I have a very diverse group of students every year that all come with very different educational backgrounds. No two students are the same and neither should my teaching! I am constantly trying to create or find new ways to instruct and influence my students so they become inspired to continue learning for a lifetime!

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor's degree from Missouri State University and a Master's Degree in Education from Rockhurst University. I currently am a student in the Curriculum and Education department at the University of Kansas - Rock Chalk!

Additional biographical information

I love movies, music, baking, interior design, and DIYing. I also love the Kansas City Royals, KC Chiefs, organizing, and school supplies (like any other teacher!).
