This song can be sung to the tune "This Land is Your Land" and can be very helpful to students who are trying to remember to switch the sign of the inequality when multiplying or dividing by a negative number. We sing it together during the unit as a brain break before practicing. You'll find students singing it after math class too!

About the store

Experience

I have taught math in the middle grades (all grades: 6th, 7th & 8th) for 19 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Math. I have a Masters degree in education.

Teaching style

Students are being asked to think a LOT in my class. We do turn and talks, group work, work on vertical nonpermanent surfaces and partner work. I incorporate error analysis, put the problem in order by steps, and word problems that relate to student life. I also do continuous review so that students are familiar with problems before test time.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was in the running for Teacher of the Year in 2022!

My own education history

I grew up in Florida. I had a private school education until high school where I decided I would like to try public school. I really enjoyed it! I went to college and decided on a math major and education minor. Later, I earned my Master's degree in education. I stayed at home to raise 3 boys for a time period, then went back to teaching in 2017. I have enjoyed learning along the way and now I want to share some of my great resources.

Additional biographical information

When not teaching, I am watching my two boys play baseball. My oldest son is a great chef, so I am always trying out his new recipes. My 3 boys enjoy math and try to challenge me with some of the problems they have in school. I am married to a high school principal that is funny, kind and is always up for an adventure. I also like to hike, go outdoors, read/learn new things, and play with our new golden doodle puppy.
