This was created to help para-professionals understand their roles in the classroom. It also introduces them to different classifications of students they may encounter during the school year and strategies to best help the students.
This is a handout for parents to give them ideas on how they can help their child in math and reading. Most parents do not realize that a simple trip to the grocery store can be a whole day teaching/learning experience for a child.
Look for this handout in Spanish too!

This is a brief story about how Christmas in Antarctica is celebrated. I used this during a mini unit for Christmas around the world. The pages have words, but no pictures. I read the pages to the class and discussed how Christmas is celebrated. We compared and contrasted Christmas in Antarctica to how the people in our room celebrated Christmas. We also compared to how other people around the world celebrate Christmas. The students then each got a page to illustrate. We then bound the book and
I used this ppt during my fall/Halloween theme. I first asked the students how we could describe a large orange pumpkin that I brought into class. We then used the ppt to facilitate a discussion on adjectives that we could use to describe a pumpkin. Slides include a list of adjectives, examples of pumpkins (silly, green , orange, etc.). Then I gave each student a small pumpkin. I asked them how they would describe them. This was a fun, hands on learning experience for the students.

(Things you can do at home to increase progress in mathematics and reading.) This was written to help parents get more involved with their child's learning. This is the Spanish version of my "Things you can do at home to increase progress in mathematics and reading".
Play this well-known game with your kids to practice their sight words. How well do they know them? Students must be familiar with the 220 words on the Dolch Sight Word lists.
You may edit the slides to fit the needs of your students.

This lesson plan accompanies my Pumpkins! LP PPT. It includes a detailed breakdown of the lessons and activities that I included during this Fall/Halloween theme. There are activities for reading, math, science, and writing. My students had such a fun time with this hands-on learning experience.
I read "If you were a polygon..." and then used these worksheets as a mini assessment of polygons. It is tiered into two groups: high and low.
The second two pages were used to assess knowledge of polygons as well, but the students were using straws and pipe cleaners to create the polygons.
This is a play that I have students perform for our annual talent show. It is about a boy who isn't very nice to his friends. He gets a visit from three ghosts: Ghost of Chanukah past, ghost of Christmas Present, and Ghost of Kwanzaa future. The ghosts take him to view his life as it was, is, and how it will be if he does not change.
This play is to teach a lesson about being kind to others. I have used this same play for three years and I just change the central theme each year. The first ye
Kids have fun problem solving with this Halloween tic tac toe game
Cut out the ghost and pumpkin clip arts and use them as the tic tac toe pieces. I laminated all of the pieces, including the game board so that I will have them forever.
I made this for parent-teacher conferences. It allows the parent/guardian to see the student's academic progress and participation in specials (art, gym/health, library, music, pt, ot, and speech). I asked each of the specials teachers to provide me a sentence or two of the students' progress. This also allows you to write what you are working on with each student.
I used this assessment to test my student's ability to write, count to and identify the numbers 1-30. I also included a section to write the numbers that come before or after a given number.
I use these with my daily math wall activities. They go along with my calendar routine. I laminate them and velcro them so the kids can manipulate them each day. They are used to fill in the sentences:
Yesterday was __________.
Today is __________.
Tomorrow will be ___________.
