Reading, Writing Fact Sheet is several lessons in one lesson. Students read the article about Water Buffalo then pretend they have a pet water buffalo. They fill in the Fact File with pertinent information found in the article and add some creativity of their own. This can be used as a 2-3 day lesson with day 1 Reading, day 2 writing the Fact File (Graphic Organizer), and day 3 writing an essay about their pet.

Essay Writing is best done in parts with an outline. This one page essay outline helps beginning students to practice writing a persuasive essay by working on each section individually. Page 2 gives lesson suggestions for the outline and individual parts of the outline can be taught on different days culminating into the final full page essay. This can be a first step to a 3 body paragraph essay.
