I created this project to help kids learn and apply math standards in a meaningful yet fun way. This is a great way for kids to go deeper with fractions, measurement, and geometry. My third graders loved it! It was challenging yet engaging. I can see this working well for 4th and 5th grade students as well. Students solve addition problems with a strategy of their choosing. They find a partner who used the same strategy first. The partners find another pair who used a different strategy and explain why they used the strategies they did. This incorporates problem-solving, justifying their strategies in writing, and then explaining it to others.
