Using your student's five senses in mathematics!!! Motivate your students with M&M's. You students will be doing the following:
counting
number ID
comparing (greater & less than)
adding & subtracting
tasting
The file contains two games. first game focuses of number ID. Second games is a addition and subtractions game. Remember the goal of both games is to eat the M&M's!!
This lesson is used to evaluate student's knowledge and skill level. The file includes: Four - Part Constructed Response worksheet, four point rubric, and two word problems.
Here is a small group activity for kindergarten. Great sorting, counting, and counting activity. Small M&M's bag will be needed for each student. M&M's not included!0!
Over the years I have found it difficult to keep everyone involved during group and Think-Pair-Share discussions. This worksheet has been over the years to eliminate inappropriate/off topic discussions.
The worksheet is completed and collected on a weekly basis or when needed.
The four part constructed response organizer is a tool i have used over the years to help students organize their math approach/plan. The organizer is used to solve multiple step word problems. Included is a student/teacher rubric.
Here is another fun game that my 5th graders have enjoyed over the years. If your students are having difficulties adding integers try this fun interactive game. They can use scratch paper to to their work (charge particle models). Enjoy!!
This PowerPoint Presentation is shown to parents on Back to School Night. The ppt. has built in hyperlinks that take student to their desired pages and the links take them back to their homepage.
Students with help from teacher can scan student work and drop it into their electronic portfolio.
The Electronic Portfolio includes the following slides: Reading, writing, math, social studies or science, my strengths, goals, and star results
The 60 Second Sweep is a way to show mastery of the multiplication facts between 2 and 9. It is so important that students have strong multiplication skills, that students in all math classes must complete the 60 Second Sweep as part of their multiplication qualifications (for which students receive a grade). We go over this the first day and recite it daily in class for the first week.
This file includes prediction instructions and a worksheet for the activity. Students predict how many stars they can draw in one minutes. While one student draws, the other student keeps track of the time. Check out the file for more and enjoy this fun activity!
When counting objects, students will say the number names. Then pair each object with only the number give. In this game/activity, it's the cost of the item. Activity direction are included. Materials: 10 pennies, shopping mat
When counting objects, students will say the number names. Then pair each object with only the number give. In this game/activity, it's the cost of the item. Activity direction are included. Materials: 20 pennies or 20 penny manipulatives, shopping mats. Small Group Activity or Independent Practice Station
Students solve and explain perimeter and area problems. Perimeter and area each have a parallelogram problem. students will then use their knowledge to solve and explain one parallelogram perimeter and area problem.
In this small group activity the goal is for students to use a hundred chart to skip count from the given starting and ending point by 2, 5 and 10. Student can also this activity corporately with a group or independently.
Kindergarten students use a hundred chart to solve addition and subtraction problems mentally. This file includes: adding and subtracting ones; adding and subtracting twos; adding and subtracting fives; and adding and subtracting tens.
The graphs are designed to present data in a concise and visual way that makes it possible to see relationships in the data.
Building Graphs is designed for kindergarten, but can also help 1st and 2nd graders. It has an extension for 1st and 2nd graders. First and second can use the data graphs to explore fractions with its probing questions.
Division word problems can be confusing problems to understand. Each word problem is organized to help solve each problem. Each problem contains probing questions to help students scaffold and organize their work.
The file contains over 10 portfolio covers sheets for different subjects and activities.
The cover sheets are interactive. They allow students to write why they chose and what they learned from that particular lesson/activity.
