It will help students understand and identify the patterns of a 120 chart and the counting sequences.Students can see which number on the hundreds chart is 10 less, 10 more, 1 less, or 1 more. The square in the middle is designed to be cut out to fit on any number on the hundreds chart. Students find a number with the blank empty square and flip up the squares to find 10 more,
Students can draw a model of above each of the addends to practice adding numbers. No regrouping involved. I had the students draw the numbers in base ten form above each addend!
Students are given a base-ten unit item bank. Students can create their own haunted house with those base-ten units. Students will count their total amount of base-ten units to their teacher (or write it down, if preferable by the teacher). Then, students are able to decorate their haunted house with Halloween stickers if available. If not, an alternative could be to draw Halloween decorations inside of their place value house.
