Learning aLot

Students make a shape pizza using colored paper/construction paper cutouts of toppings: pepperoni, cheese, sausage, and chives. Put the toppings on a small paper plate and glue. Pepperoni- Circles Cheese- Rectangles Sausage- Squares Chives- Triangles Then, students record how many of each shape they used on their pizza.

The Grinch themed measurement task. We did this after listening to the story and completing literacy activities. Students use a ruler to measure the objects in inches or centimeters. See the preview to see the questions. FYI- the heart does grow 3 sizes! :)

Students can draw a model of above each of the addends to practice adding numbers. No regrouping involved. I had the students draw the numbers in base ten form above each addend!

How I use these: -Print either the bug or small versions of the tabs, laminate and cut. -On a page of cardstock, use a double sided tape runner to adhere the tab onto the edge of the cardstock. -Cut only a small slit on the edge the part of a sheet protector where the tab will come out.

Students are given a base-ten unit item bank. Students can create their own haunted house with those base-ten units. Students will count their total amount of base-ten units to their teacher (or write it down, if preferable by the teacher).
